Q: What is a delegate and how do you set it up?

A: Delegate allows you to manage someone's mailbox and calendar. If you are a delegate to Mr. John Doe you would be able to access his calendar and request/accept meetings, schedule appointments on his behalf. You will also be able to share the entire Mailbox folder including subfolders. Mr. John Doe can still have private emails by marking them as private and you as a delegate would not be able to read them.

This feature requires you to be on the Microsoft Exchange server.

Mr. John Doe must do this at his computer:
  1. Select Tools, Options, Delegate tab (won't see this if you are not on the Exchange server), Add
  2. Select Name from Global and click on OK
  3. Select from the drop down menu next to any category (Calendar, Tasks, Inbox, Contacts, etc.) one of the options
    1. Editor (can read, modify or create items)
    2. Reviewer (can read items)
    3. Author (can read or create items)
  4. Next select one or both items
    1. Automaticlaly send a message to delegate summarizing these permissions
    2. Delegate can see my private items.
  5. Select OK twice.
