Repair and Modernization

Overview

Repair and Modernization is the end point of assembly on the Factory Floor where designed projects are built and completed for immediate occupancy and use. One substantial challenge in Repair and Modernization is to balance the significant number of projects under construction with available resources and marketplace conditions in the local construction industry. As a result, concerted efforts are made to level and schedule work output to provide the best and most cost effective results and assure that there are the resources available to execute the construction. Currently, Repair and Modernization oversees 1,319 pending projects. Projects are executed through several forms of procurement including formal contracts, informal contracts and the streamlined job order contracting (JOC) approach. In particular, the Existing Facilities Repair and Modernization Program has utilized a centralized JOC process that significantly increases the number of smaller scale projects that can be implemented by coordinating construction services of a similar type under a more manageable number of contractors.

Mission

The mission of Repair and Modernization is to manage the construction phase of the bond programs for repair and modernization of LAUSD school facilities with quality materials and workmanship, on schedule and within budget.

Vision

Our vision is to continuously improve our ability to complete construction activities safely, promptly and in a cost-effective manner.
